Mary Jenson

Mary JensonMary JensonMary Jenson joined the San Diego Christian Writers Guild in the early 90's and credits her connections in the Guild and her critique group for getting her started in the CBA market. She has authored four non-fiction books, Partners in Promise (Multnomah), Still Life (Multnomah), Taking Flight from the Empty Nest (Harvest House) and Over Salad and Hot Bread: What an Old Friend Taught Me about Life (Howard Publishers). This last book, sort of a Tuesdays with Morrie about women, began as a collaborative effort with long-time SDCWG friend and mentor, Nancy Bayless, who died before the book was ready for publication.

Jenson received a degree in Music Education from Lewis and Clark College, taught music for two years, became a pastor's wife when her husband Ron chose a dual career in ministry and business, and joined him on the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ in 1979. For eight years Ron served as president of CCC’s International School of Theology. In her role as president’s wife, Mary learned to run meetings, emcee luncheons, and hold down forts when her husband traveled. And for a couple of years in there, she homeschooled their two children.

Mary has long had a love affair with words. She actually was “discovered” as a writer because of her yearly Christmas letters. Currently her writing life is focused on editing and website writing…and, yes, Christmas letters. She is active as a mentor to small groups of women, and she and her husband have a constant flow of young people living with them—currently a college student and a newly married couple displaced by the San Diego wild fires. Ron and Mary have been married for 38 years. Their two grown children, Matt and Molly, live in Fullerton, CA.
