Faculty Consultations

Conference attendees may sign up (on Saturday, the morning of the conference) for a maximum of three, private, 15-minute consultation sessions with our faculty. These 15-minute private sessions allow attendees to pitch ideas, submit book proposals and article queries or just ask questions. Please prepare appropriately for your consultation.
Because there are a limited number of faculty and a limited number of consultation slots per faculty member, these slots fill quickly. A conference brochure giving more detailed information on each faculty member should allow you to decide who you would like to meet with. We suggest you select several alternates in case your first choices are taken when you are called to sign up.
Although the maximum number of consultations is three, you may certainly sign up for less than three or none at all.
As in the past, priority for faculty consultations will be given to SDCWG members and to those who pre-register. We adopted this strategy to promote an orderly, God honoring atmosphere at the sign up table on the day of the conference.
When we receive your paid registration, we mark the form indicating the order it was received. All Guild members will receive higher priority numbers than non-Guild members. So, the first registration from a Guild member is marked #1, then #2 and so on. Non-Guild members who pre-register receive numbers starting at 200. Those who register at the door receive numbers starting at 300.
When you sign in the day of the conference you will receive your number. Beginning at 7:45 a.m. people will be invited, in order, to sign up on the sheets provided. Signups will continue until all slots are filled.

Personal consultations with our faculty are one of the most important features of our fall writers conference. To help you get the most out of that precious 15 minutes, we’ve set down some guidelines to help you prepare.
If you are a beginner or an unpublished writer who is still formulating ideas and projects, we are happy to have you here! We have several faculty members who are here just to help you move toward putting together a professional proposal that will get the attention of an editor or agent. You can discuss your ideas and projects, show them a sample of your writing and get feedback, or get some guidance for pursuing your calling as a writer.
If you have a project in the works that you would like to discuss with an editor, agent, or publisher, please look over our form. These are the elements you should be able to identify and describe in a few short sentences.
To qualify for an appointment with an editor, agent or publisher, you are required to fill out the form and send it back to the guild at: info@sandiegocwg.org by September 18. (email info@sandiegocwg.org for the 2010 form).
Consultations with other faculty do not require this form.
